About Diana
Diana Garlington, a dedicated mother of four and resident of Providence, has made a profound impact on her community through her activism, advocacy, and life coaching. She has been recognized for her tireless work in creating safer communities, earning accolades such as the Woman's Development Institute Award in 2015, Hometown Hero in 2016, the 2018 NAACP Ida B Wells Community Impact Award and the Community Impact Award in 2018 from the Nonviolence Institute. In 2019, she was named a Survivor Fellow by Moms Demand Action.
Diana is the founder of several initiatives, including Safer Communities for Justice, the Esscence T. Christal Female Youth Empowerment Program, and Lock Arms for Peace. She has also served as the President of 300 Women and as a member of the Juvenile Hearing Board. Currently, Diana holds the position of Secretary for the Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence and One Gun Gone, and serves as co-chair of the RI City Council's advisory board, Pathway to Ending Gun Violence, and Author of her Bibliography titled "She Wasn't The One"
Pursuing her passion for leadership, Diana is currently working toward a Bachelor's in Organizational Leadership and Change at College Unbound. Her commitment to positive transformation in her community was further recognized when she won an Emmy Award for her collaboration on the PBS documentary Forged in Fire.
